Introduction

Vajragiri Hill is located on the NH 45 National Highway at a distance of about 104 km from Chennai. This mountain is very powerful like Annamalai temple. There is no doubt that the Siddhars still live here today. There are many benefits to climbing this historic hill. The temple is located on a hillock called Vajragiri, which is rich in herbs. There are stairs on the hill about 700 feet high. His footprints can be seen here. The place where Lord Shiva performed the wedding ceremony for Agathiyar as Pasupathiswara. This was the first Shiva Parvati wedding vision that Agathiyya Muni got. Located in the second mountain range, Lord Murugan is seen facing south as the idol of ChatruSamhara. The glory of the place is sung by Arunagirinathar and PambanSwamy. Historical records indicate that the site is about 4500 years old. The Ellayamman Temple, located in the Kandikai village at the foot of the hill, is said to be about 1800 years old. It is believed that this border protects the Vajragiri mountain range.

Puranic Significance

This historic temple is 2000 years old. Inscriptions here say that the RajendraChola rebuilt the temple after a great war and victory. The SanchiviniTheertham located on this mountain road is said to cure many ailments.Since Pasupathiswarar was seen here in the wedding procession to Agastya Kurumuni, devottes’s impediments to get married will be lifted if one worships in this temple. The harassment by the enemies will be eliminated if you continue to worship. The temple is parallel to Thiruchendur and is revered by Kumara Kurudasa Srimad PambanSwamy and ArunagiriNath. If you visit PerumpeyarkandikaiEllayammana, it will benefit the family. This ancient mountain is similar to Arunagiri. There are innumerable ancient temples in India.Apart from this, there are innumerable temples built by the ancient kings. These ancient, sacred and powerful temples that were once well worshiped are in a dilapidated condition today. Without eternal worship there are ruins and neglect. Two ways to reach the Pashupatinath Temple were established by the ancestors several hundred years ago.One is to reach the top of the mountain by steep stairs. The other is the path for vehicles to come from behind the hill. The Christians who started occupying a part of Vajragiri hill from 1960s have now built a huge church thereby creating controversy. The church administration has set up a decorative entrance at the beginning of the road leading to the Pashupatinath Temple.Devotees who want to see the Pasupathiswara by vehicles have to enter the ornamental entrance of the church. Now the church administration has erected a barbed wire fence along the road to prevent vehicles from passing. Thus some devotees set up a temporary path with no other option.Christians are ruining the road by dumping rubbish.Young people living in Achchirapalli told us that the church administration was working on a plan to occupy the entire mountain range if the road to the Pasupathiswarar temple at the top of the hill is occupied. .Yet the path to the top of the mountain was plunged into darkness without lights. The youths repaired the temple and with the help of some donors set up electric lights on the hillside. The letters ‘Sivasiva’ also set up a gleaming electric board on the top of the hill. Some of the stairs were newly built. They decided to put a new borewell on the hill and even built water tanks. But at this time some forest officials came and said `This is a place owned by the forest department ..No one should do anything without permission. As prevented. Asked if it was right to give all the privileges only to the church, they said they had taken the hill on a 99-year lease. The history of the Pasupathiswarar Temple on the top of the Achchirupakkam Hill and the history of the Atchiswarar Temple in the town are contemporary.Upon entering the village we are greeted by a Ganesha temple, a large pool nearby and a shop called Bazaar. If you enter the city next to it, there is a huge Shiva temple in the center of the city which is of great historical significance. That is the IlangiliammanUdanuraiAdchiswarar Temple. The hall of meaning upon entering. Next to it are the deities Moolavar, Ganesha, Baladandayuthapani, Dhaksinamoorthy, Mahavishnu, Brahma, Durga and Subramanian. The temple is a revision of the Chola period sung by Appar, Sundarar and Sambandar.
