Introduction

This temple was built by Cholas in the 10th Century. Temple walls contain many inscriptions in Tamil. The statues of Murugan, Durga, and Jyestha Devi are found inside the temple. Temple is in a damaged condition. There is not even door for Ambikai Shrine. Even the outer door does not have a lock. The terrible condition of temple is highly saddening.
