Shiva Puja, is a Hindu religious ritual and worship practice dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities in Hinduism. Lord Shiva is often referred to as the “Destroyer” or “The Auspicious One” and is a part of the Holy Trinity, or Trimurti, along with Brahma (the Creator) and Vishnu (the Preserver).

3. Abhishekam: This is the ritual of bathing the Shiva Linga with liquids like milk, water, and other sacred substances. It is believed to purify the Linga and symbolizes the cleansing of one’s sins.
4. Dhoop and Deepa: Incense (dhoop) and an oil lamp (deepa) are lit as part of the ritual, signifying the removal of darkness and the spreading of divine light.
5. Chanting of Mantras and Bhajans: Devotees recite various Shiva mantras, such as the “Om Namah Shivaya” mantra, and sing devotional songs (bhajans) in praise of Lord Shiva.
6. Meditation and Prayer: Devotees often meditate on Lord Shiva, seek his blessings, and offer personal prayers.
7. Aarti: Aarti is a ceremony where a tray with a lit lamp is waved in front of the deity as a gesture of respect and to drive away negativity.
8. Fasting: Some devotees choose to fast or abstain from certain foods on the day of Shiva Pooja as a form of austerity and devotion.
9. Visiting Shiva Temples: Many people visit Shiva temples to perform Shiva Pooja, especially on auspicious occasions and during the festival of Mahashivaratri.

Shiva Pooja can be performed on a daily basis, particularly by Shaivites, or on special occasions and festivals associated with Lord Shiva. The level of detail and complexity in the worship can vary from a simple offering of water and heartfelt prayers to elaborate rituals with a trained priest officiating.
