Rituals:
- Preparation: The area for the ritual is cleaned, and a sacred fire is prepared. The fire is often kindled using specific woods, ghee (clarified butter), and other auspicious substances.
- Offerings: Various offerings such as grains, herbs, ghee, milk, honey, and specific items mentioned in Vedic texts are made into the fire. Each offering is accompanied by the chanting of Vedic mantras.
- Mantras: Vedic hymns and mantras, especially those from the Rigveda, are recited during the Agni Puja. The mantras are believed to invoke the divine presence of Lord Agni.
- Auspicious Timing: Agni Puja can be performed on various occasions, including weddings, housewarmings, festivals, and other significant events. It is often conducted at dawn and dusk, which are considered auspicious times.
